UMS Urges Gov't to Address Cyber Attack Aftermath Without Delay

Bratislava, January 10 (TASR) - The Union of Slovak Towns (UMS) asks the government to resolve the land-registry situation without delay, as corollaries of the cyber attack on the Office of Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre's IT system are rather serious, bringing the everyday agenda of towns and cities to a halt and hampering the inhabitants and businesses alike, TASR learnt from UMS spokesperson Daniela Pirselova on Friday.
UMS asks the government to engage in proactive communication with the towns.
UMS member towns report serious problems hamstringing activities in various spheres, from the processing of real estate tax and tax declarations, construction permits, investments and projects, transport and parking policy up to environmental activities and waste management. The towns are unable to address the situation on their own and are thus forced to operate in an extremely restricted mode.
"We're worried that if the situation won't improve within a few days, the situation will have even more extensive and serious impacts on the running of local and regional authorities and the lives of the people. Because of this, we ask the Slovak government to address the problem immediately," underlined Pirselova.
