Bratislava, January 11 (TASR) - One in three Slovaks surveyed who have make New Year's resolutions want to spend less money in the new year, one in four plans to save more, while investing lags behind in terms of New Year's resolutions, according to the results of the latest survey by 365.bank published by its PR expert Zuzana Blazeckova Janove earlier this week.
She specified that more than half of the population makes resolutions concerning finances. One third of the respondents plan to spend less in 2025, with one quarter (mainly youth up to the age of 35) have resolved to start saving on a regular basis. The number of financial resolutions exceeds that of some of the more traditional ones, such as quitting smoking (15 percent), spending more time with family and friends (20 percent) and finding a new hobby (11 percent).
According to the survey, investing is not yet a priority in the plans of Slovaks - only 8 percent of the respondents plan to start investing. However, it is noteworthy that people who have made such a resolution are three times more likely to be men than women and are most often younger people under the age of 44.
The survey further showed that Slovaks, even if they have made New Year's resolutions, aren't willing to spend too much on them (for example, on buying a bicycle, a fitness centre pass, setting aside a certain amount for savings, paying off a partner after a break-up, tools for a new hobby, etc.). More than a quarter (27 percent) aren't willing to invest at all, and even if they are willing to do so, this most often concerns only up to €100 (16 percent), or between €101-€300 (16 percent).
