Stats: Employment Rose Most Rapidly in Selected Market Services in November 2024

Bratislava, January 13 (TASR) - Employment rose in six of the ten monitored sectors of Slovakia's economy in November 2024, with selected market services posting the most rapid year-on-year (y-o-y) growth of 5.4 percent, the Statistics Office reported on Monday. Moderate growth of up to 2.3 percent was seen in construction, retail, the IT sector, accommodation and the sale and maintenance of motor vehicles. Year-on-year decreases in numbers of employees were posted in four monitored sectors. The biggest employer, industry, saw its labour force cut by 2.1 percent y-o-y in November. In addition, fewer employees than the year before worked in wholesale, in restaurants and pubs, and in transport including warehousing. In the first eleven months of 2024, employment grew y-o-y in six sectors, with the fastest growth of 4.8 percent seen in selected market services. Growth of over 2 percent was also seen in accommodation and in the IT sector.
