Bratislava, January 13 (TASR) - MP and 'Slovakia' party leader Igor Matovic will lose two MP's salaries, for January and February, for being ordered out of the parliamentary chamber in December, according to a decision made by House Vice-chair Peter Ziga (Voice-SD), who is tasked with heading Parliament on a temporary basis.
This information was published on Parliament's website.
Matovic was expelled from the parliamentary chamber by House Vice-chair Tibor Gaspar (Smer-SD) when he was taking the floor during a parliamentary debate on an amendment to the Child Benefit Act in December. According to Gaspar, Matovic was constantly crossing the boundaries of decent behaviour during the debate and failed to correct this when asked to do so. Gaspar asked him to leave the chamber, but Matovic didn't do so, so he was escorted out.
Expulsion from the parliamentary chamber is considered to be an unexcused absence from a parliamentary session.
After being expelled from the chamber, Matovic told journalists that when speaking in the debate he was standing up for families with children, who, in his opinion, will be robbed of their tax bonus. Matovic added that he had described the government as a mafia that had stolen money and that families with children will now have to pay the price.
