Bratislava, January 13 (TASR) - Slovakia's construction output amounted to €827 million in November 2024, up 0.9 percent year-on-year (y-o-y), the Statistics Office reported on Monday. The sector posted a similar output in y-o-y terms following six months of drops. Seasonally adjusted, construction output increased by 5.4 percent month-on-month (m-o-m). The overall result was negatively influenced by a 2.3-percent decrease in the output of the dominant new construction sector, while repairs and maintenance construction work declined by 2.5 percent. However, this was the smallest monthly decrease to be reported since the beginning of 2024. Only the smallest component, other construction work, rose by as much as almost one third. Domestic construction output accounted for almost 9 percent of total construction output. The construction of buildings accelerated by 7.6 percent y-o-y, while work on civil engineering structures, which includes motorway construction, fell by 11 percent y-o-y in November. Meanwhile, the overall result for November 2024 was positively influenced by the output of Slovak construction firms abroad, which went up by 18.7 percent in November. Its share of total construction output grew to more than 10 percent. In the first eleven months of 2024, construction output amounted to almost €6.7 billion, going down by 5.9 percent y-o-y. None of the components of domestic construction output reached last year's levels. Output in the decisive new construction sector decreased by 7.7 percent, while repairs and maintenance fell by 3.5 percent. The volume of construction work carried out by Slovak firms abroad was similar to the one reported for January-November 2023. ko/df
