Bratislava, January 14 (TASR) - The Labour Ministry is set to establish the general retirement age for individuals born in 1967 this year, with the announcement to be made six years in advance, in 2025, which preceded the calendar year when people born in 1977 will reach the general retirement age, according to preliminary information published by the ministry on the legislative portal Slov-lex. Currently, the retirement age for insured individuals born before 1967 is known. For these people, the retirement age is determined by Social Insurance Act. The last retirement age is set for individuals born in 1966, which is 64 years. Since the retirement age for those born before 1967 is already established, their retirement age remains unchanged," stated the Labour Ministry. Starting this year, the increase in the retirement age for people born in 1967 will be linked to life expectancy. "The retirement age for specific insured person is established as the general retirement age reduced for raising child, meaning that women who have raised a child will continue to have their retirement age reduced by six months for each child raised, with a maximum reduction of 18 months," clarified the ministry. If the period of child-rearing can't be taken into account when determining the retirement age for a woman, it'll be granted to the man who raised the child during the same period. lin/mcs
