Police: Evidence Seized in International Police Operation

Bratislava, January 14 (TASR) - The police on Tuesday carried out raids as part of an international search operation concerning the criminal case of people smuggling, illegal employment, tax evasion and other related economic crimes, TASR learnt on Tuesday. "House searches and searches of other premises were carried out in Slovakia, in which the police seized evidence such as documents, electronic devices and other items related to the investigation," said spokesman for the Police Corps Presidium Roman Hajek. The spokesperson further specified that the intervention was carried out by members of the National Unit for Combating Illegal Migration in close cooperation with the Sobrance mobile intervention unit, criminal investigation technicians and experts from Germany. Tuesday's international operation took place on the basis of investigation in Germany and a European arrest warrant issued by Germany. "In addition to Slovakia and Germany, the raids also took place in Slovenia, Bulgaria and Croatia," added the police spokesman. am/mcs
