Bratislava, January 15 (TASR) - Head of the Employers Associations and Unions (AZZZ) Tomas Malatinsky has sent a letter to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding gas transit via Ukraine to Slovakia, TASR learnt on Wednesday. In the letter, Malatinsky warned of growing gas prices following the decision to stop the transit and pointed out that gas prices pose a significant cost that influences competitiveness. He voiced his hope that a constructive solution to the transit issue can be found, one that would enable Ukraine to benefit as well. The AZZZ president condemned Russia's aggression in Ukraine and the war that it is waging against the Ukrainian nation. He pointed to the aid that Slovakia has provided to Ukrainian refugees, and underlined the concerns of Slovak businesses. "It was with concern that we received the news of the shutdown of gas transit for Slovak and European consumers via your country. We're convinced that this fact will have a considerable impact on the prices of gas, which are currently unusually high, and, if a fundamental change doesn't take place, its adverse impacts will be felt on European markets in the near future as well," wrote the AZZZ president. mf/df
