Fico: We're Looking for Another Date to Meet with Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Kosice, January 16 (TASR) - We're currently looking for a new date for a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) told a press conference in Kosice on Thursday. "We're looking for another date, which should be in the next few days, as far as the meetings you are asking about are concerned. When that date comes, I'll tell you about it right away," said Fico, adding that they'll inform about the location of the meeting in the future. In an open letter on Monday (January 13), the Slovak premier proposed to the Ukrainian president a joint negotiation in Slovakia near the state border with Ukraine. The subject should have been the situation around gas transit via Ukraine and bilateral Slovak-Ukrainian relations. In a brief statement on X, Zelenskyy agreed to the meeting and invited Prime Minister Fico to Kiev on Friday. On Wednesday, House Vice-chair Tibor Gaspar (Smer-SD) announced that the prime minister was unlikely to travel to Kiev. am/mcs
