Poprad, January 17 (TASR) - Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice-SD) is set to visit the patient hospitalised in Poprad (Presov region) following Thursday's knife attack at the secondary school in Spisska Stara Ves in Presov region, he stated at Friday's press conference, adding that he wants to be informed about the student's health condition and treatment progress.
Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) and Defence Minister Robert Kalinak (Smer-SD) once again expressed their sincere condolences to the families of the two victims and their sorrow over the incident. "I wish the injured student to recover quickly and return home as soon as possible," said Fico. He stressed that it's important to refrain from making any political statements.
Kalinak praised the swift actions of the rescue teams and the police at the scene. "It's always incomprehensible when someone decides to resolve personal issues in such a brutal manner. This individual has had conflicts with women in the past, but we'll let the authorities handle the case. I'm glad they were able to apprehend the attacker quickly and prevent further harm he could've cause," stated he.
The victims of Thursday's attack at the secondary grammar school in Spisska Stara Ves are two women, aged 18 and 51, and an 18-year-old woman with moderately severe injuries was taken to hospital. The police arrested an 18-year-old student suspected of committing serious knife attack, one hour after the incident. The motive for his actions is still under investigation.
