Kosice, January 18 (TASR) - Kosice Airport experienced a record number of passengers last year, with a total of 739,010 passengers passing through its gates, up by 18 percent compared to 2023 and by 32 percent from the pre-pandemic year 2019, airport spokesman Juraj Toth reported. More than 474,000 passengers used regular services to nine destinations, including Dublin, Liverpool, London Luton, London Stansted, Prague, Warsaw, Vienna, Zadar and Zurich. Of these routes, London Luton, Vienna and Prague were the busiest. A further 261,000 passengers flew on charter flights. "Antalya, Larnaca and Hurghada were the most popular destinations during the record holiday season. The number of passengers on charter flights increased by 32 percent year-on-year," stated the airport. The airport recorded the historical increase in passengers symbolically in the year when it celebrated the centenary of the first commercial flight to Kosice as on May 5, 1924, the then Czechoslovak Airlines dispatched a flight to Kosice from Prague. am/mcs/lin
