Survey: Tenth of Slovak Workers Earned Less than 1,000€ Per Month Last Year

Bratislava, January 18 (TASR) - In Slovakia, salaries increased last year, but still, 10 percent of workers earned less than 970€ gross per month, while 25 percent earned under 1,200€ gross, according to an analysis by the Platy.sk portal, reported by Alma Career Slovakia. The top 25 percent earned over 2,050€ gross, with the highest 10 percent earning more than 2,900€ gross. The analysis revealed that significant regional salary differences persisted in Slovakia even last year. The median salary reached 1,500€, meaning half of the people earned more and the other half less. According to the data, the highest base salaries were in Bratislava region, where the median level was at 1,870€, while the lowest salaries were in Presov regions, with a median of 1,275€. For total salaries, including bonuses and the 13th salary, the median in the Bratislava region reached 2,000€, in Trnava and Kosice regions it was 1,600€, and in the Presov region it was 1,400€. The data also revealed that the highest earners are those working in big companies. "Half of those employed in companies with more than 1,000 employees earn more than 1,777€, while the top 10 percent earn over 3,200€ per month. On the other hand, the bottom 10 percent of employees in the largest companies earn up to 1,070€," the company explained. As further shown, the median salary for people working in small companies with fewer than 10 employees is 1,300€. The lowest-earning 10 percent make up to 860€, while the top 10 percent earn a base salary of over 2,100€. lin/mcs
