ARDAL: Slovakia Borrows over €800 mn in First Government Bond Auction This Year

Bratislava, January 20 (TASR) - Slovakia has borrowed €812.3 million in the first auction of government bonds to take place this year, in which total demand from investors reached almost €2 billion, the Debt and Liquidity Management Agency (ARDAL) announced on Monday. ARDAL sold four kinds of bonds with maturity dates ranging from 2028 to 2043. The average yield in accepted bids ranged between 2.5979 percent p.a. and 3.9813 percent p.a. Slovakia obtained the highest sum (€218.5 million) from a sale of bonds with the longest maturity date (in 2043). Investor demand in the auction totalled €427.8 million. The average accepted yield on maturity stood at 3.9813 percent p.a. Another auction of bonds maturing in 2034 brought in an additional €216.5 million, with total demand from investors reaching €689.8 million. The average accepted yield in this case stood at 3.4390 percent p.a. Bonds maturing in 2033 brought €211 million into state coffers, with demand totalling €516.3 million and the average yield at 3.3211 percent p.a. The state gained the lowest sum from bonds with the shortest maturity period, ending in 2028. It sold €166.3 million at 2.5979 percent, with total investor demand of €359.3 million. In the previous (November) auction, which was the last to be held last year, Slovakia sold bonds for €491.3 million with maturity dates between 2028-2036.
