PS Calls on Government to Clearly Define Slovakia's Interests Towards USA

Bratislava, January 20 (TASR) - The opposition Progressive Slovakia (PS) party is calling on the government to clearly define Slovakia's interests towards the United States in relation to Donald Trump's inauguration as President of the United States, TASR learnt from Peter Koeles from the PS media department on Monday. According to PS leadership member Ivan Korcok, Slovakia's primary interest towards the United States and the new president is security and defence. "We must work together with the USA to prevent borders in Europe from being changed by force and military aggression. We must do everything we can to ensure that President Trump sees this as an American interest as well," stated Korcok. As stated by the party, the change in the US administration comes at a time when the government is weakening Slovakia's strategic position. "These steps undermine the stability, security and prosperity of the country, threatening Slovakia's values and security compass. Therefore, we're launching the 'Slovakia Has Greater Potential' campaign, calling on the government to stop gambling with our future, maintain Slovakia's foreign policy anchorage and protect its place within the EU and NATO," added Korcok. lin/mcs
