Bratislava, January 20 (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini thanked the rescue forces for their dedication, selflessness, and responsibility in their work throughout the past year on Monday, after a meeting with representatives of the Fire and Rescue Corps, the Police Corps, the Mountain Rescue Service, the Slovak Chamber of Health Rescuers and Town Police Chiefs Association. "For Slovakia, it is crucial that responsible, skilled, professionally and morally competent professionals and volunteers work in the rescue forces. Therefore, I am ready to support any proposal that contributes to improving your position and your recognition," stated Pellegrini. The president noted that the work of the emergency services is associated with immense responsibility and praised them for often carrying out their missions at the expense of their own free time. "You risk your health, and often even your own lives, and that's why you deserve even greater respect and admiration. Our gratitude for your year-round service is immense, and I'm pleased that it's not just about moral recognition, but also specific steps to ease your work, improve your material and technical equipment, and provide higher financial compensation, which you all certainly deserve," stated the head of state. lin/mcs
