KDH Wishes Trump Success in Advocating for Peace in Ukraine and World

Bratislava, January 21 (TASR) - The opposition Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) wishes the new US President Donald Trump success in advocating for peaceful solutions and security guarantees for Ukraine and the whole world, as well as in preventing the polarisation of American society, TASR has learnt from KDH spokeswoman Lenka Kovar. "KDH hopes that Donald Trump, after taking up office, will continue to strengthen transatlantic relations despite some of his previous statements, as these relations are an irreplaceable pillar of protecting democracy and collective security," stated the party. At the same time, the Christian Democrats hope that the Trump administration will maintain mutually beneficial economic relations with the European union and support trade exchanges. "This is in the interests of both the European Union and Slovakia," they added. Trump swore the oath of office for his second term at the US Capitol at noon local time (6 p.m. CET) on Monday (January 20), becoming the 47th president of the United States. lin/df
