Bratislava, January 22 (TASR) - According to Interior Minister and Voice-SD leader Matus Sutaj Estok, the threat of a planned coup is real, with a report from the Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS), to be discussed by the Security Council on Thursday (January 23), indicating activities aimed at destabilising the country and creating an impression of chaos and hysteria, while intelligence services are currently analysing all information.
The minister claims that the events of the past months were not accidental. "Bomb threats that came in precisely timed waves. An assassination attempt on the premier. Attempts to attack critical energy infrastructure that could paralyse our country. Cyber-attacks on the state's strategic databases or protests that, at first glance, appear to be spontaneous expressions of dissatisfaction, but upon closer analysis, show signs of targeted coordination. Financial flows from abroad, connections to groups with strong media and political ties - all of this points to an attempt to manipulate public opinion and create chaos," the minister stated.
"Based on substantiated documentation, we can rightly draw conclusions that a coup is being prepared in Slovakia — an attempt to seize power and hand it over to obedient puppets," he added.
According to Sutaj Estok, the intelligence services are currently analysing all serious information they have secured. "As Interior Minister, I can guarantee full cooperation with law enforcement authorities," he added. He also stated that the government is prepared to manage the situation. "While others try to spread fear, chaos, and weaken our state, we will act — decisively, professionally, and with one goal — to protect Slovakia and its people," he said.
