Bratislava, January 23 (TASR) - At its special meeting on Thursday, the Security Council is set to deal with preventive measures, increased protection of buildings, and increased monitoring of certain facilities, especially critical infrastructure, House Vice-chair Tibor Gaspar (Smer-SD) told TASR before the meeting. Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) said that the Security Council will discuss the current security situation and take measures. "Concerning public rallies, there will probably be a request to the interior minister to ensure that there are sufficient resources and capacities on site in order to prevent any conflict or provocation from occurring there, and to make sure that rallies take place peacefully," said Gaspar, who declared that the state monitors all activities directed against the constitutional order of the Slovakia. Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) convened a Security Council meeting for Thursday morning to deal with Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS) information that was read out in Parliament on Tuesday (January 21). The intelligence service claims to have obtained serious information on "long-term activities aimed at destabilising the Slovak Republic". According to Fico, it is evident that the opposition doesn't want to take part in a fair political contest. The premier expressed concerns about mass protests and a takeover of power in the country. He announced that preventive measures to prevent escalation would be taken at the Security Council meeting. ko/df
