Simecka: Slovakia Witnessing Implosion of Robert Fico's Fourth Gov't

Bratislava, January 25 (TASR) - Slovakia is witnessing the implosion of the fourth government of Robert Fico (Smer-SD), with early election being the only way out, leader of the opposition's Progressive Slovakia (PS) declared on Saturday. Simecka pointed out that the coalition has lost its parliamentary majority and currently commands only 75 votes [parliamentary majority is 76 -ed.note]. "Parliament has been paralyzed - not by the hand of dark forces from abroad - but by the incapability of Robert Fico to govern in a stable fashion. Coalition lawmakers are openly stating that police and security forces of the state have been deployed to monitor them," stated Simecka. This sentiment was echoed also by SaS chair Branislav Groehling, according to whom the coalition is locked in a state of internecine war. "Fico loves to talk about 'peace' and 'cooperation', but his Government symbolizes the opposite - the disintegration and incompetence. Instead of solutions, all we've seen is the reckless pushing of their own interests, waste of resources, price hikes, attacks on critics and complete disregard for their own voters," he claimed. mf
