Malatinec: I'll Attend Parliamentary Session, Still Enough Time for Talks

28. januára 2025 15:53
Bratislava/Banska Bystrica, January 28 (TASR) - MP Roman Malatinec (Voice-SD) plans to attend the next session of Parliament and serve as an intermediary between the coalition and MPs Samuel Migal and Radomir Salitros, the two legislators expelled from Voice-SD, according to Malatinec's press statement on Tuesday. "Yesterday was one thing, today is another story. You have an extended hand from the party and then talk also with your colleagues," claimed Malatinec, adding that the situation is constantly evolving. Whether or not he votes in Parliament will depend also on the quality of bills submitted by the governing coalition and whether or not they're important for society. Malatinec didn't answer clearly as to whether the quartet of rebelling legislators, centred around Migal, had been asking for posts in the government, as claimed by Voice-SD chair and Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok. According to Malatinec, it is normal that aspirations get discussed within the party and he still expects an invitation to talks from the party leadership. If they offered him the post of Culture Ministry state secretary, under incumbent minister Martina Simkovicova (SNS nominee), he would reject it. In his view, it is premature to talk about culture minister nominations, though. The legislator underlined that he supports the governing coalition and the Cabinet of Robert Fico (Smer-SD). He also believes that Samuel Migal supports the Government Manifesto as well. mf/mcs
