Fico to Leave for Brussels to Discuss Gas Transit with European Commission

Bratislava, January 28 (TASR) - Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) will meet with representatives of the European Commission on Thursday (January 30) in Brussels to discuss the situation regarding the gas transit to Slovakia, TASR learnt from the Government Office's press department on Tuesday.
On Monday (January 27), Foreign and European Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) welcomed the statement by chief of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas, based on which the European Commission supported Slovakia and Hungary in the issue of protection of critical energy infrastructure, including the pipeline that connects Slovakia with Ukraine. Following Monday's session of the EU's Foreign Affairs Council, Blanar also voiced his appreciation for Kiev's declaration of willingness to transport to Europe any gas other than Russian.
