Bratislava, January 29 (TASR) - Opposition lawmaker Marek Lackovic (PS) has apologised to Martina Migasova for statements he made with respect to the State Housing Development Fund (SFRB) at the end of 2024, the Progressive Slovakia press department reported on Wednesday. "Based on statements by the director of SFRB legal department in response to my press conference held on December 5, 2024, I have reconsidered my previous statements about her. I apologise for my statements to the extent to which they concerned Ms. Martina Migasova, the head of SFRB's legal department. My goal has always been and will be to contribute towards improving the political culture in Slovakia. So, I consider it my duty to admit my mistake publicly," stated Lackovic. In December 2024, the opposition lawmaker warned about commissions carried out by SFRB that were supposed to involve the Migas family. Lackovic found as problematic the fact that Jozef Migas Jr., affiliated with companies supported by SFRB, and Martina Migasova, the head of SFRB legal departments, are siblings. As part of his apology, Lackovic quoted Martina Migasova's statement: "The legal department of SFRB doesn't assess commissions or applications for the provision of support and has no power to make decisions about them. I've been heading the legal department since August 2021, when Mr. Eduard Heger served as prime minister. I reject any effort to link me with the business activities of Mr. Jozef Migas Jr. ... I've never arranged any SFRB aid for Mr. Jozef Migas Jr. I do my job with honour, conscience and in line with the law." mf/df
