Bratislava, February 14 (TASR) - Slovakia is going to experience a significant cooling in the next few days, and the coldest period of this winter can be expected, the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMU) posted on a social network on Friday, explaining the change in the weather by the flow of cold, originally arctic air from the north.
"There will be daytime frosts in the north, towards the south it will be around zero or just a few degrees above zero for a few days," said the meteorologists. Night frosts are also expected to gradually intensify, with isolated lows of minus 20 degrees Celsius in the valleys over the next week. "This period may thus be the coldest during this winter," they stated, adding that it's expected to start warming up gradually in the second half of next week.
There won't be much snow, the meteorologists expect only less heavy snow showers. "In the cold Arctic air, ski resorts will at least have suitable conditions for the production of technical snow," added the SHMU.
