Bratislava, February 19 (TASR) - Police and firefighters are intervening near a chemical plant in Bratislava's borough of Nove Mesto, where a chemical leak occurred during excavation work on Wednesday, with several people who came into contact with the substance being hospitalised, TASR learnt from the Bratislava regional police's social media post on the same day. "Officers from several units are currently carrying out the necessary actions to properly clarify the circumstances of this case," the police explained. The Bratislava borough of Dubravka stated on social media that during excavation work, a pipe containing hydrogen sulphide was damaged at the chemical manufacturer Istrochem company site. At the moment, it is still unclear when the hydrogen sulphide will be fully ventilated from the atmosphere. On Wednesday, five men were admitted to Ruzinov Hospital in Bratislava after complaining of having breathing difficulties following exposure to an unknown substance, with one showing signs of disorientation. Their condition is stable, they're being monitored, and inhalation therapy is being administered. They remain under medical supervision. Bratislava University Hospital (UNB) spokeswoman Eva Kliska confirmed this to TASR. lin/mcs
