Monitor: Kalinak: Huliak One of Potential Nominees for Minister

(STVR, 'Five Minutes to Twelve', February 23) MP Rudolf Huliak (independent) might become nominated to the post of minister of tourism and sports, Defence Minister Robert Kalinak (Smer-SD) stated on STVR's discussion programme 'Five Minutes to Twelve' on Sunday, while his opposition number, MP Tomas Valasek (PS), cast doubt over whether Huliak has sufficient qualification and expertise for such role. As for the current political situation in Parliament, Kalinak pointed out that the coalition strives to regain control of 79 MP votes. "I think everyone wants to enjoy a majority that guarantees the stable passing of legislation," said Kalinak, who emphasized that the Government is fully functional and delivers results. Valasek was more skeptical, however, as to whether the coalition will manage to restore its former majority of 79 lawmakers. "Our task is to point out that this is no way to govern the state," he added. mf
