Stur210: Exhibition 'Ludovit Stur and His Generation' Opens in Presov

Presov, February 24 (TASR) - The state scientific library in Presov has opened an exhibition titled "Ludovit Stur and His Generation" in the reading room with old prints to mark International Mother Language Day and the 210th anniversary of Slovak poet Ludovit Stur's birth, Renata Smidova has stated on behalf of the library. The exhibition presents old prints and almanacs that offered a publication space for the Stur generation, showcasing essential works by Ludovit Stur, Jozef Miloslav Hurban, and Michal Miloslav Hodza. It also includes a selection of fiction from the Stur generation in the post-revolutionary period. In addition, the work poet Jonas Zaborsky, a companion of the Romantic generation, is highlighted in connection with the city of Presov and the Eastern Slovakia region. "Although these publications may not be the most attractive in terms of book design and production, they laid the foundations for modern Slovak in its current form," said the exhibition's curator, Lucia Nemcova.
