Motion to File Charges in PM Assassination Attempt Case Delivered to PG

Bratislava, February 26 (TASR) - In the case of the assassination attempt on Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) that took place last May, a proposal to file an indictment against Juraj C. [name abbreviated due to legal reasons] for carrying out a terrorist attack was delivered to the Prosecutor-General's (PG) Office on Tuesday (February 25), PG Maros Zilinka has posted on a social network, adding that further procedures will be decided by the PG's Office. "Concerning the matter of the assassination attempt on the Slovak premier, the PG's Office on February 25 received a proposal from an investigator of the Office for Combating Organised Crime (UBOK) to file an indictment against Juraj C. for the particularly serious crime of a terrorist attack," wrote Zilinka. Zilinka announced that a prosecutor of the PG Office's Serious Crime Department will decide on further procedural steps after a comprehensive assessment of the investigator's proposal based on the investigation file, material evidence and secured electronic data. The investigation file is comprised of 18 volumes with a total of 6,239 pages. Juraj C. shot and seriously injured the premier following a government session in Handlova (Trencin region) on May 15. He was first charged with attempted premeditated murder. At the beginning of July, the legal qualification was changed and he is being prosecuted for a terrorist attack. ko/df
