Liptovsky Mikulas, February 26 (TASR) - Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice-SD) confirmed the reclassification of Liptov Hospital with Ivan Stodola Hospital in the town of Liptovsky Mikulas (Zilina region) to the second level, the minister stated during a press conference on Wednesday at the hospital in the presence of Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD).
"We thoroughly reviewed all relevant facts, took into account strategic importance, and considered real travel times. Based on a comprehensive assessment, we reclassified Liptov Hospital with Ivan Stodola Hospital from the first to the second level within the hospital network categorisation. This will enable the provision of health-care services to the extent necessary for such a strategically important health-care facility," stated Sasko.
Estok stressed that this is a key step for the entire region. "Minister Kamil Sasko managed to push through the reclassification of the hospital in Liptovsky Mikulas to a higher level, thus correcting one of many mistakes left by the previous government," he added.
The mayor of Liptovsky Mikulas, Jan Blchac, called the decision a significant benefit for local residents. "I have been fighting for the inclusion of our 166-year-old hospital in the second - regional level for four years. I knocked on many doors, met with ministers, government members, MPs, and officials, until the current Health Minister, Kamil Sasko, came along and found the will and strength to correct the wrong decisions of the previous government and the situation caused by bureaucrats in Bratislava who had no understanding of the real local conditions," he added.
