Bratislava, February 27 (TASR) - The opposition Progressive Slovakia (PS) has spoken about the ongoing coalition crisis, accusing Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) of still failing to come up with a solution, PS caucus head Martin Dubeci told a news conference on Thursday.
Dubeci pointed out that no regular House session took place in February due to the problems within the governing coalition. He spoke about the inability to adopt important measures and legislation in Parliament.
"As far as the parliamentary session is concerned, we are ready; if it were to be held earlier, let it be earlier. It's up to the governing coalition, the coalition simply has to say that it's able to meet now. If a House session is convened earlier, we'll accommodate ourselves to this, but I have a feeling that it's absolutely unrealistic. They'll be glad if they can manage to do this by [the end of] March, and my guess is that they won't," stated Dubeci.
Dubeci criticised the fact that no important laws have been approved in Parliament due to the problems in the coalition. He pointed to the pending election of the House chair, as well as other personnel elections. He said that Parliament still hasn't dealt with tax legislation, deforestation or the provision of legal aid to those in material need. "Ministers don't even bother to sent laws to Parliament, knowing that Parliament is paralysed," noted Dubeci.
MP Jan Hargas (PS) also criticised the coalition for not addressing several areas and problems, such as the dysfunctional land registry and situation concerning expensive foodstuffs.
