Bratislava, February 27 (TASR) - The Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) is calling on the government to pass a resolution on the situation in Nagorno Karabakh and pursue the release of imprisoned political representatives of the region, TASR learnt on Thursday.
The proposal has been submitted by MEP Miriam Lexmann and MP Frantisek Miklosko.
Representatives of KDH pointed out that a number of political representatives in Nagorno Karabakh were detained in September 2023. "The government should recognise that their imprisonment erodes peaceful relations in the region and is in breach with the interests of the OSCE," underlined the Christian Democrats.
In this context, KDH supports the resolution by the European Parliament dated from October 5, 2023, and called on the Slovak Government to request the release of the detained individuals on humanitarian grounds. The party wants the cabinet to take diplomatic action, contact the Embassy of Azerbaijan, the Embassy of Armenia and OSCE with an eye towards securing justice and adequate medical care for political prisoners.
