Bratislava, February 28 (TASR) - Social service workers cannot afford basic living standards on their income, which is why the Slovak Health and Social Services Labour Union is gearing up for a protest, opposition's SaS party warned on Friday.
SaS added that it considers the situation of social service workers to be critical.
"Aside from accumulating problems encountered by employees at social facilities, field caretakers and informal caretakers have been turning to me, as they cannot afford even basic living standards for their families on their income. Labour Minister Erik Tomas (Voice-SD) managed to hand out two billion euros on the 13th pensions in the course of 16 months, but he forgot about those taking care of the people in need," said SaS MP Martina Bajo Holeckova.
Social service workers have been calling for years to have their salaries attached to the minimum wage, she added.
