Bratislava, March 6 (TASR) - Slovakia and Hungary still stand on the side of peace regarding the war in Ukraine and they fully support what the new American administration and President Donald Trump are currently doing, said Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) at a joint press conference with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto following their meeting on Thursday.
"We can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel, that this conflict can be ended by means of diplomacy," said Blanar, adding that after three years it has become clear that there's no military solution to the conflict.
However, it is evident that the EU wants to promote the narrative that the war in Ukraine can be won, stated the Slovak minister. "We oppose that. We [he and Szijjarto] agreed that we have the same view [of this] and that we will support it as much as possible in all activities related to it," stressed Blanar.
Blanar stated that all of this has a huge impact on relations within the EU, including the economy. Above all, however, achieving peace would save lives on both sides, Ukrainian and Russian, he added.
