IT: Digital Coalition Launches 14th Year of Digital Skills Testing

Bratislava, March 6 (TASR) - The Digital Coalition launched on Thursday the 14th year of digital skills testing of primary and secondary school pupils and their teachers via the IT Fitness Test, the Digital Coalition told a press conference, adding that the test measures the digital skills of pupils and teachers in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland. The free test comes in two versions and is available in six languages. "We've launched today the 14th year of the IT Fitness Test, the largest digital skills test in Central Europe. It's a test that we launched 14 years ago only in Slovakia and only for secondary school pupils, today we're also testing primary school pupils and also in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Poland. This test is aimed at testing the digital skills of future primary school graduates. We're testing whether they are sufficiently prepared to use digital technologies in terms of security, but also office tools for studying at high school," said Digital Coalition chair Mario Lelovsky, adding that future high school graduates are also being tested to see if they are ready to work or study at university. The test is designed to check skills in four categories, including internet, security and computer systems, office tools, collaborative tools and social networking. According to Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation Minister Richard Rasi (Voice-SD), digital skills will be essential for any profession in the future. "That's why the IT Fitness Test is one of the key tools for us to be able to identify the state, to be able to identify how our youth and teachers, but also those who educate, are developing in digital skills," said Rasi. The organisers stated that the IT Fitness Test is the largest and most comprehensive digital skills test in Central Europe. Last year's 13th edition attracted 190,000 respondents across the V4 (Visegrad Four) countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia). am
