Banska Bystrica, March 10 (TASR) - Banska Bystrica region vice-governor for culture Roman Malatinec stepped down from his post on Monday.
Malatinec resigned from the post during the March session of the regional authority held in the town of Modry Kamen in the district of Velky Krtis. He will be replaced in the post by Voice-SD regional chair Bozena Kovacova.
Malatinec said that he wants to continue as a Banska Bystrica regional councillor and to support Banska Bystrica governor Ondrej Lunter.
Malatinec's political affiliation became the main reason for his planned dismissal from the vice-governor post. However, he gave up the post before the regional authority could dismiss him.
Malatinec was one of the four Banska Bystrica region vice-governors nominated for the post by the caucuses of individual parties. At the same time, Malatinec is an MP in the national Parliament. He has quit the Voice-SD party and its caucus to join the extra-parliamentary National Coalition. He currently serves as its leadership member and vice-chair for culture, regional development and local government.
