Martin, March 12 (TASR) - The construction of the new St. Martin's University Hospital, partly financed from the funds of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, is proceeding according to the set schedule, said Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice-SD) after an inspection day in Martin (Zilina region) on Wednesday.
Sasko and Vice-premier for the Recovery Plan Peter Kmec (Voice-SD) came to see how the construction work on the new hospital in Martin is progressing.
"The status of this project to date is that it is fully on schedule, and the project team responsible for construction has finalised the design documents and submitted applications for building permits. A significant milestone has now been achieved, as building permits are in place for both the garage building and the lower part of the structure under the main hospital building," said Sasko.
The minister added that the total budget for the project is around €257 million, ex-VAT. "It's already known today that this amount will simply not be enough to reach the fully fitted-out stage by the end of 2028, which is why we made a commitment at the government meeting that we'll look for these sources of financing," stressed the health minister.
The new hospital in Martin is to have its own outpatient, diagnostic and therapeutic part as well as a separate section for paediatric medicine and an emergency reception with a trauma centre adapted for treating children and adults. A total of 660 beds are to be provided.
