Blanar Praises Truce Proposal for War in Ukraine Put Forward in Jeddah

Bratislava, March 12 (TASR) - Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) has welcomed the peace proposal that emerged on Tuesday as part of the talks between the USA and Ukraine in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, TASR was told by the Foreign Ministry's communications department on Wednesday. "I appreciate the tremendous efforts of the new United States administration to broker peace talks in Saudi Arabia that offer an initial necessary ceasefire in the military conflict in Ukraine. This is an important development that can stop the killing and lead to the search for a lasting peaceful solution," said Blanar, calling on Russia to address this proposal without delay. After talks with US representatives in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday (March 11), Ukraine voiced its support for the United States' proposal of a 30-day truce with Russia. At the same time, the United States immediately lifted all restrictions on military aid for and exchanges of intel with Ukraine. According to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, Russia will respond to the American proposal only after it familiarises itself with the details. am/df
