KDH Welcomes Truce Proposal in Ukraine, Hopes Russia Will Agree to It

Bratislava, March 12 (TASR) - The opposition Christian Democrats (KDH) welcome any steps that will stop the bloodshed and therefore also the agreement of the Ukrainian and American delegations on a one-month ceasefire, the KDH communications department has told TASR, adding that they can only hope that Russia will agree to the truce. "However, a just peace, which won't be short-lived, must be negotiated in the presence of all parties affected by this conflict - Ukraine, the USA, Russia, and including the European Union," added the Christian Democrats. After talks with US representatives in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday (March 11), Ukraine voiced its support for the United States' proposal of a 30-day truce with Russia. At the same time, the United States immediately lifted all restrictions on military aid for and exchanges of intel with Ukraine. According to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, Russia will respond to the American proposal only after it familiarises itself with the details. am/df
