Bratislava, March 19 (TASR) - Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) has welcomed the peace efforts of US President Donald Trump following the latter's phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Tuesday (March 18). "The two representatives agreed on the need for mutual communication and the search for sustainable solutions so that similar conflicts aren't repeated. This message is all the stronger in the year when we are commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII. If we have something to pass on to future generations, it is peace above all," Blanar posted on a social network on Wednesday. The Kremlin said after the phone call that the Russian president agreed to Trump's proposal that Russia and Ukraine will mutually refrain from attacks on energy infrastructure facilities for 30 days. However, Putin also set a complete halt to foreign military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine as a condition for ending the war. He claimed that this is crucial to prevent the conflict from escalating and to redirect its resolution to the political and diplomatic level. ko/df
