USVRK Sends Team to Fire Site in Velky Saris to Provide Help to Those Affected

Bratislava/Velky Saris, March 20 (TASR) - The Office of the Government Proxy for the Roma Communities (USVRK) is sending a team from the Regional Policy and Crisis Management Department to the fire site in Velky Saris (Presov region) to assist residents of the affected dwellings and those evacuated to municipal facilities, USVRK's media department head Miriam Ziakova stated on Thursday. "We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and will provide the maximum possible assistance to those affected by the fire," Ziakova added. Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) also expressed his condolences on social media and thanked the rescue services. A fire broke out overnight in several several dwellings in an area where a marginalised Roma community lives in Velky Saris. Five people died in the fire, including one adult and four children, according to city Mayor Viliam Kallo. The local government has already declared a state of emergency.
