Rimavska Sobota, March 20 (TASR) - The governments of Robert Fico (Smer-SD) have forgotten about the Gemer and Malohont areas in central Slovakia, stated Progressive Slovakia (PS) chairman Michal Simecka during a working trip of the PS parliamentary caucus in these areas, adding that although Fico's cabinets have held several sessions there, they haven't kept any of their promises. "They promised social enterprises, water mains, sewage systems, cycle paths and a revival of agriculture. They haven't done any of this," said Simecka, pointing to an empty field where, he stated, the R2 expressway from Zvolen (Banska Bystrica region) to Kosice should have been built a long time ago. According to head of the local PS branch in Rimavska Sobota (Banska Bystrica region) Roman Valo, the R2 expressway was supposed to bring opportunities to the entire Gemer area and connect it with neighbouring towns. He also pointed to its importance in connection with a state industrial park, the construction of which is nearing completion and where 450 new jobs are to be created. According to him, not only employees but also suppliers and exporters will suffer because the planned road hasn't appeared. "They will put a strain on local transport. This isn't right. It's important that this road is built," added Valo. am/df
