Bratislava, March 21 (TASR) - The Presidential Palace will join the Earth Hour initiative by switching off its lights for an hour at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday (March 22), the Presidential Office's communications department has informed TASR. "Turning off the lights is a symbolic gesture that reflects the importance of environmental responsibility," stated the Presidential Office. The office will thus join institutions expressing support for international efforts in the field of nature conservation. It said that it views climate change as one of the significant global challenges, with its impacts being also observable in the region. Earth Hour is one of the largest global events involving the general public. The aim of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) initiative is to draw attention to permanently sustainable living. More than a billion people around the world express their solidarity by turning off their lights every year. ko/df
