Slanina to Stay in Charge of STVR, Temporary Mandate Extended Again

25. marca 2025 14:57
Bratislava, March 25 (TASR) - Igor Slanina will continue to head Slovak Television and Radio (STVR), as House Vice-chair tasked with temporarily heading Parliament Peter Ziga (Voice-SD) has extended Slanina's temporary mandate as STVR's executive official from April 1 to June 30, TASR learnt from Parliament's website on Tuesday. After public-broadcaster RTVS was restructured by the coalition into STVR and its former management ousted, Slanina was originally supposed to stay at the helm until September 30, 2024, but his mandate was later extended until the end of the year. It is the STVR board that is supposed to elect the new STVR general director, but the board is still not fully staffed yet due to disagreements within the coalition. Under the new legislation, the STVR board will enjoy the power not only to elect but also to oust the general director. mf/df
