Krajcer Withdraws His Candidacy for Member of STVR Council

Bratislava, March 25 (TASR) - I have decided to withdraw my candidacy to the STVR Council, Daniel Krajcer announced in a statement to the media on Tuesday.
"Paradoxically, my candidacy has become part of the political battle for the post of House chair," he said.
Krajcer thanked the Voice-SD party for its support and also commented on the criticism addressed to him by some MPs. "I have to say that I rather perceive it as a compliment. These gentlemen have never done anything for public service in Slovakia," stressed Krajcer.
The former culture minister and ex-presenter applied for membership of the Council of the public-service Slovak Television and Radio (STVR) as a candidate - an expert in television broadcasting. According to media reports, his name was a point of contention between the coalition Slovak National Party (SNS) and Voice-SD parties.
Another candidate for the TV area - Igor Adamec - withdrew his candidacy on Monday (March 24).
MPs are due to vote STVR Council members on Wednesday (March 26) afternoon. They are to elect five new members of the STVR Council, from the fields of television broadcasting, radio broadcasting, economics, law and information technology.
The new formation of the council is related to the law that changed the former RTVS to STVR as of July 1, 2024 and ended the tenure of director general Lubos Machaj and the members of the supervisory body. So far, the names of four members are known, who were appointed by Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova (an SNS nominee) on the basis of a selection procedure.
