Bratislava, March 26 (TASR) - Georgia will also take part in the Slovak Shield 2025 military exercise, with a maximum of 50 soldiers from the country to be allowed to enter Slovakia for this purpose, according to an update to the government's consent to the presence of foreign troops in Slovakia and the deployment of Slovak soldiers abroad in the first half of 2025 approved by the cabinet at its session on Wednesday.
In addition to Georgian soldiers, a maximum of 500 members of the armed forces of NATO-member countries can attend the Slovak Shield 2025 exercise, which will cost Slovakia over €500,000 to organise.
The change also concerns military exercises abroad. "The IANUS 2025 military exercise due to take place in Hungary in June 2025 has been added to the list. The financial cost of the exercise will be €10,000. The date and location have been updated for another international exercise, Steadfast Cobalt 2025. In addition to Poland, members of the NATO Deployable CIS Module (DCM) will also train in Germany," reads a respective proposal submitted to the session by the Defence Ministry.
