CORRECTION: Richard Rasi Becomes New Parliamentary Chair

26. marca 2025 18:33
TASR released a story earlier in the day in which it mistakenly stated in the first paragraph that Richard Rasi was elected to the post of House chair on Tuesday. In fact, it happened on Wednesday. We apologise for this error. The corrected story is as follows: Bratislava, March 26 (TASR) - Voice-SD deputy chairman Richard Rasi has become the new head of Parliament after receiving the votes of all 79 MPs present in a secret ballot on Wednesday. Rasi needed at least 76 votes to be elected. The post of parliamentary chair has been vacant since April 2024, when the then head of Parliament Peter Pellegrini won the presidential election. House Vice-chair Peter Ziga (Voice-SD) was entrusted with the management of Parliament in the interim. According to the coalition agreement, the post of the parliamentary chair belongs to Voice-SD. The election was delayed for months due to a lack of full agreement in the coalition to support one candidate. Rasi returned to parliament after leaving the helm of the Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation Ministry. He was replaced by Samuel Migal. am/mf/df
