Tomas: Ministry Launches Aid for Farm Workers due to Foot-and-mouth Disease

Bratislava, March 26 (TASR) - The Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Ministry has launched assistance under the working name "kurzarbeit" (short-time work) for employers and employees of farms where foot-and-mouth disease has been confirmed, Labour Minister Erik Tomas (Voice-SD) told a press conference after the government meeting on Wednesday. "In case there is not enough work for the employees of those farms for a certain period of time for logical reasons, the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Ministry through the labour offices will reimburse 80 percent of the gross salary of those employees, while 60 percent will be reimbursed by the state and 20 percent will be co-participated by the employer," said Tomas. am
