Bratislava, March 27 (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini will leave for an official visit to Tirana on Friday (March 28) at the invitation of Albanian President Bajram Begaj, the President's Office's communications department has informed TASR.
This is the first-ever visit to be paid by the Slovak head of state to Albania since the establishment of the independent Slovakia. The main goal of the visit is to confirm interest in intensifying bilateral relations with an emphasis on developing economic cooperation.
"The two presidents will discuss current developments in the Western Balkans region, Albania's EU-integration process, the security situation in Europe and transatlantic relations. The Slovak president will be accompanied in Tirana by Defence Minister Robert Kalinak (Smer-SD)," said the President's Office.
As part of his visit to the country, Pellegrini will also meet Speaker of the Albanian Parliament Elisa Spiropali and Premier Edi Rama. In addition, the Slovak president is scheduled to visit the Bunk'art 2 Museum, which commemorates the two countries' similar historical experience with totalitarian regimes.
