Fico: Instead of Arms Race, Slovakia Will Ask EU for Car Industry Aid

Bratislava, March 27 (TASR) - The Slovak Government is aware of Slovakia's strong dependency on the production of automobiles and instead of arming up with weapons it will ask the EU for aid for its car industry, Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) declared in his social media post in response to a criticism from the opposition regarding US President Donald Trump's announcement of the introduction of 25-percent tariffs on car imports to the United States. "We're very clearly aware of the concentration of automobile production in Slovakia and instead of massive arming of Europe, we will rather ask the EU for a massive aid for the automobile industry," stated Fico. mf
