Bratislava, March 28 (TASR) - Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice-SD) met representatives of medical science on Friday to discuss support for science and research in Slovakia, TASR learnt on the same day. Speaking at a press conference, Sasko announced his plan to allocate more financing to medical science. Sasko wants the ministry to popularise science and asked the experts to draft short, medium-term and long-term plans to that effect within two weeks. In addition, Sasko discussed with the experts a plan to create an innovation fund for the support of research and science to which pharmaceutical companies could contribute resources as well. Along with President Peter Pellegrini, Sasko plans a discussion of experts on support for AI and the development of innovations in Slovak health care. The minister underlined that the work of Slovak scientists is state of the art and globally competitive, and the sphere of science and research bears enormous importance in education. "It contributes, for example, towards society not giving room to various pieces of disinformation, often hoaxes, and it is our top-notch scientists, top-notch academics and top-notch researchers who supply relevant arguments. It's our task, my task, to make sure they are given public coverage," said Sasko. mf/df
