Liberation80: Exhibition Devoted to Anniversary of End of WWII Opens in Lucenec

Lucenec, March 29 (TASR) - The Municipal Museum in Lucenec (Banska Bystrica region) opened an exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII on Thursday (March 27), museum head Andrea Moravcikova has informed TASR. The exhibition will cover the liberation struggles and the stories of important participants in the war from the Novohrad area in the museum's exhibition hall. The exhibition, titled '1945: We Commemorate Lest We Forget', is dedicated primarily to the 1st Czechoslovak Army Corps, which fought alongside the Soviet army. Special attention is being paid to the 1st Czechoslovak Fighter Aviation Regiment, the 2nd Independent Paratrooper Brigade and participants in the battles from the Novohrad area. Pilots from the 1st Czechoslovak Fighter Aviation Regiment will be presented on information panels, and there will be information on Pavol Rudolf Husar from Gregorova Vieska near Lucenec, who served in the Royal Air Force (RAF). The exhibition will be open to the public until May 18. The Municipal Museum plans to round it off with a thematic event marking the anniversary of the end of WWII that it is organising for May 17 as part of Museums and Galleries Night. ko/df
